“Art Feeds the Soul” Quilt Show

Sorry! You just missed the 2023 “Art Feeds the Soul” Quilt Show. It was held March 8-11 at Elon Community Church in Elon, NC.

Looking Toward 2024

Next year’s show dates are March 6-9, 2024 in the same venue (in a similar format). Mark your calendars!

Reflections of 2023

Read on for highlights of our most recent event!

Best of Show

Of the 123 quilts hung in this year’s show, the “Best of Show” honors go to…

Connie Griner for her artwork entitled “Kerry’s Bouquet.” It was judged in the new category, “All One Maker.”

Judging Results

With a total of 123 quilts on display, 100 quilts judged, 16 judging categories, special awards for quilting techniques, 55 ribbons awarded, 53 different quilters, and 30 different ribbon winners, our clerk had quite a lot of record keeping to do!

Viewer’s Choice

To get a “head count” of show guests, we counted names in the Guest Register, so I hope you weren’t too distracted by the basket raffle to sign in! If YOU were one of the 641 attendees to our 2023 Show, YOU got to vote for your favorite quilt. And the winner is… Quilt #1.

Ann Acquilano with her king sized quilt entitled Vintage Rose (in the category of “Large Pieced Quilts.”)

Food Pantry Donations

Boy, were our guests generous this year! On Tuesday March 14, the Planning Committee was happy to take a break from our debriefing meeting to present a check for $636 to Lt. Gessica Pierre from the Salvation Army on behalf of the Alamance County food pantry. Thank you so much for your cash and/or canned food donations!

The truck was then loaded with 1,521.80 pounds of food! (That equates to 33 fully-loaded cardboard boxes, 28 sturdy grocery bags with handles, and 2 open boxes!) What a haul!

Again this year, our “official” (volunteer) Show Photographer, Don James, was hard at work during the week. We will be happy to share a link to his photos when his editing is complete. But in the meantime, you can see many pics posted in our public Facebook Group. Just type “Art Feeds the Soul Quilt Show” where the little magnifying glass shows up on your Facebook screen and you’ll find it!
